I never thought I'd celebrate your birthday in this world without you in it.

I thought about picking up the phone to call you today.

You'd answer as you always have, “Hi Shantelle,” in that sweet voice of yours.

How do I move on and ever smile again?

If I do, would it be like I'd forget?

No, I know that's not true.

Cuz I have started to smile;

I remember your beautiful face, smile, voice, and hugs.
